History: History I can write a whole history in bullet points if you need it.

Personality:
What does your character act like around strangers? Around friends? Does the way they act tend to match the way they feel on the inside? Why or why not?

Vash presents a friendly attitude to strangers and friends alike. It’s how he generally feels. On the surface. Deep down, he keeps a well of guilt and sorrow hidden. Personal matters and private thoughts aren’t shared. Vash is aware he isn’t a human being and generally how humans react to the strange.

This and having a long life beyond them, shaped his present levels of distance between people and himself. He cares for humanity. He cares about friends. But it is better they don’t become attached to him for many reasons. Thus does he pass across the face of No man’s land, doing good where he can and trying to stop the violence and suffering his twin inflicts in the name of fear.

What is your character afraid of and why? Does this fear affect the way they act in any way? Has it affected any major decisions they’ve made in their life?

As one of two unique beings on the planet No Man’s Land there is a lot to be afraid of. Vash worries about his brother and the harm he means to inflict. He worries for humanity, who are seemingly slowly losing their fight to survive. He worries about what will happen when humans realize he isn’t one of them.

Fear is a part of his every day, but he doesn’t let it define how he reacts to life and to people around him. Kindness is the core of Vash. But fear once robbed him of action. And fear destroyed his relationship with his twin. He has to acknowledge that fear paralyzes him in terrible moments. And he refuses to let it make his choices in the major decisions to come.

Will your character look back on their life with any regrets? What will they wish they could have done before they arrived in Limbo? What will they do if they get out?

There are a lot of things Vash wishes he had done differently. Maybe if he made it clear to Nai that he trusted Rem most of all, not just offering humans another chance, things would be different. If he had acted to stop his twin, would humans not be stranded? If he had been stronger and faster. Better in every way…could tragedy have been avoided.

He can’t change what has happened. But he can get out and try to sit with Nai. If he can convince him to try kindness and work towards a better future. Or at least give his option a chance. He doesn’t want to hurt his brother. Or anyone else.

Abilities:
Humans once bio-engineered beings called Plants. Plants can produce energy - water, electricity, etc. They serve as bio-generators. Rarely a Plant gives birth to a human-like Plant with a will of their own, called an Independent. Independents are faster and stronger than humans. They process thoughts and react at speeds humans can't. They regenerate from most damage but can't regenerate limbs.

All plants are connected to the dimension they pull power from. When they disconnect from this network, they go out of control and use up their lives. Vash has the gifts of an independent but, his need to eat or not is in question. There is a suggestion he does it subconsciously and induces it subconsciously to fit in. That is merely speculation. Anyway, Vash is a special Independent. Not only does he have the usual access to flight, but he can open the way to that higher dimension.

This is translated on a conscious level into breaking down energy thrown at him and condensing it into cubes and possibly bullets. I don't think he can consciously open that gate without a substantial push. Or, his morality shields all, including himself, from that. I will play it this way. He can break energy apart and reshape it into cubes and bullets with a limited shelf life. A large spell needs to be discharged within two minutes or so. And so on. I can nerf it down to a set number of times a day, too.

He's a pacifist so, he won't use it unless he has to.

I will play him as having the urge for food and sleep but ignoring the urge when he feels he doesn't deserve to eat or sleep (he pulled this in episode 4 and in his flashback).

Inventory: his clothes, his gun - two clips of bullets with it, his provisions (aka his travel bag with the basics in it) and Tomas, a tiny magical owl.

Eternal Reward: A meeting in a neutral location to sit down and talk with Knives. No violence is permitted, just them in a space where they can talk. That's all he wants.

Goals/Ideas: He aims to find the right argument to convince his brother to stop trying to end humanity. I want him to deal with things he has shoved down. And Vash comes to realizations story-wise through his journey with other people. I want to address the things he doesn't and what he views as his fault. But I also want him to relax and be able to just be. To have fun and set aside some of his pain.
